About the Painting.
Local Crimson Rosella (Platycerus elegans), are seen regularly in groups,chatting and socializing in the trees, on the beachfront, in local gardens and in the bush.
They are a friendly social bird, eating seeds, soft fruits, nectar and insects. Brilliantly coloured, their feathers appear in different light as iridescent with a beautiful glow from head to claw.
Today they are giving each other a grooming session while feasting on the native red New Zealand Christmas Bush flowers.
