About the Painting.
The Sulphur Crested Cockatoo (Cacatua galerita), also commonly known as the White Cockatoo, are of the Cacatuoidea family.
Cockatoo are regarded by the local Aboriginal Gubbi Gubbi people, as the Guardians of the Forest. These Australian monogamous birds, have adapted to urbanisation, living to up to forty years in the wild. They are noisy, intelligent and naturally curious birds and are wary and difficult to approach closely.
I was inspired when I spotted this trio whilst driving on the back road to Wamuran, framed in the distance by the Glass House Mountains.
